Nancy Simmons, at the AMNH, was kind enough to show me the two most exciting bat fossils in the world: Icaronycteris index (right), and Onychonycteris finneyi (left). They are both 52 million years old, from Wyoming. The first was on the cover of Science in 1966, the other on the cover of Nature in 2008. Photo by Lauren Reimnitz.
